Since I am counting on my phone for a lot of things, including maps, it’s important to prolong battery life between charges. I took a tip here from an online commenter that suggested getting two 10,000 mah power banks instead of one larger one. Two can be charged simultaneously, plus if one breaks the other one can act as a backup. On less demanding trips I can even leave one home and save the weight.

I went cheap on these with basic Anker power banks. The one downside of the cheap ones is they have USB-A and micro USB, but not C, so I do have a bit of a mish-mash of cables I have to carry to charge the banks and then use them to charge devices. I may regret that.
The charging block was a separate purchase, and trickier than I thought (How many charging blocks can there be?) I settled on one that isn’t fancy but can fast charge multiple devices at the same time, and has folding tines for easier packing.
